401
1904, addressed to the British Medical Association on the
subject of Medical Registration in Ceylon.
3.
It would be advisable, however,
before steps are taken to amend the Medical Registration
Ordinance 1884, to obtain the opinion of the General
Medical Council on the subject, and I have therefore to
request that Your Lordship will be good enough to refer
the matter to the Council and at the same time to ask them
to supply a list of the Foreign Countries and British
Dependencies which do not grant reciprocity of the nature
referred to, assuming that Hongkong registers such persons
only whose qualifications entitle them to registration by
the Council.
4.
I may point out that any legislat-
-ion on the subject in this Colony would not be retrospect-
-ive and that Chinese Practitioners are fully protected
by Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1 of 1884.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
Mbathan
Governor, &c. .
